Get involved
Interested in joining my research team? Great! Research experience can be a great way to explore the field of animal behavior. It’s not for everyone, so check out the information below to see if this would be a good fit for you.
What do research assistants do?
My lab is based on an apprenticeship model which means that I accept students to work on specific projects under my guidance. Therefore, I only accept students if I have a project available for you to work on. If I don't have anything when you ask, feel free to check back later!

All of our research is remote, done from a computer lab at Canisius College. Some students record cat behavior from video, others collect information from the SPCA's database. It is important to be aware that, at the moment, our research does not involve handling cats or visiting the SPCA.
What are the expectations?
Spend 3-4 hours per week doing research
Attend bi-monthly lab meetings on Friday afternoons
Communicate with me if you have any questions!
If you are interested in the Anthrozoology Master's program, I am happy to speak with you about the program and our students. Please email me to set up a time to chat. If you are interested in conducting research with me, please be advised that I do not oversee Master’s Theses. For that, I will refer you to Dr. Chirantana Mathkari, who advises the quantitative thesis students or Dr. Joshua Russell, the program director.
